মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় পশ্চিমবঙ্গের বন্যা পরিস্থিতির জন্য বারবার কড়়া ভাষায় ডিভিসিকে আক্রমণ করছেন। এবং তাঁর  কথায়, না জানিয়ে ডিভিসির জল ছাড়ার কারণেই এই পরিস্থিতি তৈরি হয়েছে। ডিভিসির প্রাক্তন ইঞ্জিনিয়ার সত্যব্রত বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় এবিষয়ে বলেন,"না বলে জল ছাড়ার প্রশ্নই ওঠে না। পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারকে জানিয়েই কাজ করা হয়। প্রথমে ফ্লাড ওয়ার্নিং দেওয়া হয়। তারপর ৬ ঘণ্টা পরে জল ছাড়া হয়। প্রশাসনের  সমস্ত স্তরে এই খবর আগে থেকে পৌঁছে যায়। তারমধ্যে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের সদস্যও রয়েছে কমিটিতে।"
